Meet the Coach

Word on Fire - Team Headshots - 1-119.jpg

Michael Adams

Michael Adams is a coach, engineer, author, and, most importantly, a husband, father, and beloved son of God. Living and working in the Western suburbs of Chicago, Michael’s life is defined by the belief that the pursuit of excellence on the court should never come at the expense of the soul. For years, he has coached high school basketball with a singular mission: using sports as a formation tool to help young athletes find true human flourishing, and countering the commodified version of sports all too commonly found in modern culture.

Michael understands that the digital generation is currently navigating unprecedented levels of anxiety and isolation. Through his work as an author and his graduate studies in Evangelization and Culture at the Catholic University of America, he frequetnly explores how sports, when approached properly, serve as a physical means to a heavenly end. Visit www.wordonfire.org/author/michael-adams/ to read some of Michael's published works on faith and sports.
